Spiritual Travels is a companion to my blog The Holy Rover, which covers “travel tips for inner and outer journeys.” This site focuses on the practical details of how to take those outer journeys. Here you’ll learn how to plan a pilgrimage to Lourdes, where to eat in Wittenberg when you’re following in the footsteps of Martin Luther, and why you don’t want to challenge a Korean monk to a martial arts match.
I’ve been a freelance travel writer
for more than twenty years and am a member of the Society of American Travel Writers and the Midwest Travel Writers Association. My articles and essays have appeared in many national publications and I’m the author of books that include The Joy of Pilgrimage and Iowa: Off the Beaten Path. I’m also ordained as a deacon in the Episcopal Church. You can learn more about other writing work I do at this website.
My traveling companion, photographer, and occasional website contributor is my husband, Bob Sessions, who has been a philosophy professor for many years. This site is a compilation of information and tips we’ve learned along the way.
